The Rockwell Police Department
became official again on September 1, 2001 at 00:00 hrs. We are now the
primary law enforcement agency for the Town of Rockwell. With
this change brought about our own incident reporting and case
management, criminal investigations, and investigations of the traffic
crashes within our city limits. This is just another way
that we continue our efforts to improve services to you, the citizens
of Rockwell.
-
The Rockwell Police Department facility is located at
303 W. Main St. in Rockwell. It serves the citizens of Rockwell
as a local law enforcement facility and Rowan County as a satellite
office for Sheriff George A. Wilhelm. The Rockwell facility is
staffed by the Chief of Police along with 4 full-time Rockwell
officers, 5 part-time Rockwell officers, and 4 Reserve officers in addition to the sheriff's deputies.
Rockwell also has a mutual aid agreement with the sheriff's department
and other surrounding municipal police departments. The town provides the
building, patrol vehicles, and equipment for the officers who serve
and patrol Rockwell. Officers working for Rockwell provide
traffic enforcement and crash investigation, criminal investigations,
and general police activities during the course of their shift.
Regular Sheriff's deputies provide coverage during the absence or
unavailability of a Rockwell Officer.

-
On May 23, 1999, after renovations and improvements to
the existing building, the Rockwell Police Department facility was
renamed and dedicated as the
Jim L. Bost Law Enforcement Center in memory of former Police Chief
James L. "Jim" Bost who had served our community from Jan.
1984 till May 1996.

With
seat belt usage and obeying the posted speed limit, the
numbers and severity of traffic crashes are reduced,
so that YOU don't
become a statistic!!
