The department is structured as a two company department with a Chief, Deputy  Chief, and Assistant Chief serving as the departmental leadership.

The members are divided into two companies, an Engine Co. and a Ladder Co.  Each company is supervised by a captain and lieutenant along with 10-12 volunteer members.  The Engine Co. is responsible for the 2 front line engines: E-701 - 2003 Spartan/KME Rescue Pumper; E-702 - 1995 Spartan/KME Pumper; and the 1970 Dodge Power wagon brush unit - B-707.  The Ladder Co. is responsible for the first out ladder; L-703, a 1989 Spartan/FMC 50' Telesquat, along with the First Responder Rescue Unit; R-705 - a 1990 Ford/Horton 1st responder Unit, and the 2001 Ford F-250 Squad/Personnel Unit; S-708.

The department serves the Town of Rockwell which covers approx. 4 sq. miles and has a population of about 2000 people.   The fire department operates on a budget of about $ 110,000.00 annually that is provided by the Town of Rockwell.  The department has an average response of about 200 calls per year, of which about 52% are medical or "first responder" type calls.  Last year the volunteer membership put in over 6800 hours of volunteer training and department service, not including response to actual calls.

The fire department has located beside the station, a grassed, lighted helipad where medical helicopters land and fly patients out to a trauma center during life threatening emergencies.  This is just another service that we provide to our community offering better service to our citizens.
